Slowing Down on the Trail

When working, do you notice when they start slowing down, looping back, and beginning a circle? Many handlers think, "Oh no, they have lost the trail." But in fact, it's the dog reading the odour pool around it. It's like a sniff library, checking, cross-referencing, cataloguing what's around, and what looks like hesitation is the dog problem-solving. Your challenge is: Do Not Panic, take your time and let them work out the direction.
