Why Train With us

Experience the transformation in your dog when they are engaged, challenged, and supported.

Confidence Building

Mantrailing and scent school give your dog the freedom to think, problem-solve and succeed. Each search builds confidence, emotional security and resilience, especially for nervous, shy or rehomed dogs.

Mental Enrichment

Challenge your dog in the way nature intended. Scent work stimulates the mind, reduces frustration and provides a rewarding outlet for natural instincts through structured, engaging activities.

Strenghtens Your Bond

Work together as a team while your dog leads the search and you learn to trust their instincts. Shared success builds communication, trust and a deeper partnership.

Meet your instructor, Valerie

What started as a fun mental game to enjoy with my own dog, Lily, completely transformed my world. It gave me a special pocket of time to simply watch her work and bond with her outside of my instructing hours.

That passion quickly grew. Today, Lily and I actively compete in Scent Work UK (SWUK) and UK Scent Sport, currently working our way up through Level 3! Our older dog, Daisy, has now joined the team and started her own exciting scent journey, too.

Beyond competing, I am also a Scent Work UK Judge. Seeing the sport from every angle—as a handler, a competitor, a judge, and a teacher—fuels my absolute love for this community.

Teaching new teams is just awesome. There is nothing quite like the feeling of watching a handler and dog grow together, unlock their natural superpowers, and find their own rhythm on their scent journey.

Whether you want to build a closer bond with your dog, cure their boredom, or step into the competitive ring, I am here to guide you every step of the way!

Mantrailing as Behavioural Enrichment

Mantrailing is more than a hobby; it can positively influence a wide range of challenging behaviours.

The activity encourages dogs to make thoughtful choices, rely on their instincts, and engage in problem-solving, all of which promote healthier emotional patterns.

Why Mantrailing Works

Mantrailing allows dogs to work freely, encouraging natural behaviours that build confidence and mental resilience.

Watching your dog solve scent puzzles helps you better understand their body language, communication, and thinking patterns — strengthening your partnership both on and off the trail.

It is one of the few activities where the handler steps back, observes, and learns, while the dog takes centre stage. This shift in roles not only deepens trust but also creates a more harmonious everyday relationship.

Puppy classes and Mini Mantrailing

Our Puppy Classes are designed especially for young dogs aged 14 weeks to 1 year, offering a fun, engaging introduction to the world of Mantrailing. Think of it as Hide & Seek for puppies—a confidence-building game that brings out your puppy’s natural instincts while strengthening the bond between you both.

A Positive Start for Young Trailers

This 2-hour introductory workshop gives your puppy the perfect first experience of scent work.

Each puppy works individually with their owner and enjoys rest breaks between trails, ensuring the session is calm, enjoyable, and tailored to their needs.

What Your Puppy Will Learn

  • How to explore new environments confidently

  • Foundations of Mini Mantrailing (puppy scent games)

  • Working at their own pace without pressure

  • Developing trust and teamwork with their handler

  • A fun alternative to traditional command-based training

Mantrailing is all about letting your puppy think, choose, and investigate—no conflict, no forced focus, and no stressful expectations.

A Sport That Inspires Optimism

Mantrailing has been known to transform even the most uncertain dogs into confident, eager workers.

For dogs and owners who may feel limited by behavioural struggles, it opens the door to new experiences, adventures, and a more fulfilling, connected life.

Mantrailing truly is the sport that turns a pessimist into an optimist—one trail at a time

Lynn

Thank you Vall for a very informative and practical insight to man trailing. As it was our first attempt at trailing, I felt we learnt and achieved a lot in a short space of time. It was an excellent introduction.
