8-11 Intro - Mantrailing for all dogs
Fun sniffing and finding the missing person
Service Description
Mantrailing is a dog sport that teaches dogs to follow a specific person's unique scent trail to find them. It taps into a dog's natural sense of smell, turning it into a fun and challenging activity for both the dog and handler. The sport is accessible to all breeds and ages, builds a dog's confidence, and can be practiced in various environments, from urban areas to rural parks. How it works Scent: Each person leaves a unique scent made of skin cells, sweat, and bacteria that dogs can follow. Training: Dogs are trained to ignore distractions and focus solely on finding the specific person (the "Trail Layer") who laid the scent trail. Game: It's essentially a real-life game of hide-and-seek where the dog is the detective. Teamwork: The sport builds a strong bond between the handler and their dog as they work together as a team. What to expect For beginners: Initial sessions focus on teaching the dog the basics of following a scent trail. Progression: As the team gains experience, trails can become longer and more complex, incorporating different environments like town centers or country parks. Rewards: Dogs are highly motivated to find their reward at the end of the trail, which can be high-value food or a favourite toy. Safety: Dogs are always kept on a long line to ensure their safety and to keep them under control during the sport.
